Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Willie Granville. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends. She will be missed.
Ms. Granville, as a lifelong “CME” was known, respected and cherished across the local, district, annual conference andconnectional church for her innumerable contributions of service, giving, “more service and more giving” spirit. A Missionary par excellence.
A Proverbs 31 Woman of Faith:
Like Deborah: Ms. Granville was sagacious, gifted, talented and a business woman who believed in excellence. Throughout her life, she devoted her educational prowess to her children and youth in the Rossie T. Hollis Département which was designed to train our children ages eleven (11) and below; through Missionary programs and activities enhancing their young Christian expression. At any given early Saturday morning, Ms. Granville could be seen with her children (girls and boys) in her green Cadillac on their way to participate in district or annual conference events. After arriving back to Marshallville, she was known for giving them take home snacks, “intentional weekend behavior instructions” and awards the following Sunday for their outstanding achievements.
Like the wise woman of Abel: Ms. Granville served as a past local Stewardess Board President and District Officer on the FVSD Women’s Missionary Society. She was an active voice and worked tirelessly to uplift and encourage all; economically, socially and educationally.
Like Lydia, Ms. Granville was a Christian woman of influence, hospitable, charitable, kind, loving, fashionable in her favorite color of purple and organized. Under her tenure working with youth, one of St. James’ students represented the Central Georgia Region as the recipient of the Helena B. Cobb Higher Education Scholarship which was a full four- year college scholarship. Additionally, she stretched her faith and took her first flight to the Women’s Missionary Council Conference in North Carolina. She was determined to represent her church and district.
Like Mary and Martha: Ms. Granville, meditated and prayed daily and put her relationship with Jesus into demonstrative ministry at all levels of the church. From organizing children to recite their speeches for community Easter Programs, toensuring all children she encountered had “proper” clothing, shoes and supplies during the school year. She further became a life- long member of the Pauline B. Grant Status of Women Department for her unselfish giving to promote and “elevate all women into positions and places of respect, responsibility, recognition and reconciliations.” Moreover, she was honored by the City of Marshville as the Grand Marshall for the Christmas Parade in 1996. Her former students came from near and far to give her waves and hugs of love.
