Edwards Small Mortuary announces the passing of Robert L. Meadows of Kathleen, Georgia on October 18. 2023.  Our deepest sympathy to the friends and family.

Mr. Robert Lawrence Meadows affectionately known as “Sharphead” was born December 16, 1947 to Dorothy Rumph Meadows Jordan and Thomas Meadows in Birmingham, Alabama. His maternal grandparents were Money and Hannah McGhee Rumph of Fort Valley, GA. A loving wife Jane Meadows and Aunt Edna Rumph “Aunt ED” who reared him as her son. A loving little sister Pamela Lucas, and a devoted nephew Albert Lawrence “Grip” Meadows; all whom preceded him in death.


He was educated in the Peach County school system of Fort Valley, GA. He attended elementary and high school at Henry A. Hunt, graduating in the high school class of 1965. He went on to attend Fort Valley State College University where he was a dedicated member and supporter of the Alumni Association. “He loved those Tigers and Wildcats.”

In his early years he joined Saint Louis CME Church in Marshallville, GA. He and his siblings later moved their membership to Usher’s Temple CME Church where he was a loyal member and a member of the male choir.

In his young adult life, he joined the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War for which he received a Purple Heart. He later worked for General Motors in Lockport, NY, Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA, and the second African American mailman hired in Fort Valley, GA with over 35 years of dedication with the United States Post Office.

On Wednesday October 18, 2023, Robert was called by his heavenly Father from labor to reward.

He leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life, three devoted children: Mrs. Terrie Lynn “Mooky” Meadows Donawa  Marvin) of Killeen, TX; Mr. Damon Dale “Buster Boo” Meadows (Michelle) of Kathleen, GA; and Mr. Michael Ricardo “Snook”  Meadows of Kathleen, GA; three awesome grandkids whom he loved and cherished very much: Lyla Elise Meadows, Laila Lessie Donawa, and Little Michael Ricardo Meadows Jr.: two devoted sisters: Fannie L. Meadows and Dinah King of Fort Valley, GA: one brother, Willie Jordan (Mary) of Warner Robins, GA: three devoted nieces; Giovoni King, Hannah King, and Arenestine Lucas; one devoted nephew; Henry Lucas Jr III; seven great nieces, one great nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.
