Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing Karolyne B. Fleming on January 30, 2025. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.
Karolyne B. Fleming was born February 17, 1952, and was the youngest of two children to the late Willie Ford and Katherleen Ford. Karolyne is the product of the Peach County school system graduating from Henry A. Hunt High in 1969. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Fort Valley State University in 1973. She was married to Melvin Fleming welcoming two beautiful children: Adrian D. Fleming and Malissa C. Fleming Jackson.
Karolyne lived and thrived in Miami, Florida where she served as a Social Worker for the Department of Children and Family Services, later becoming a Juvenile Justice Probation Officer. It was during this time that Karolyne touched numerous lives in her 36 Years of selfless service and dedication, impacting thousands of at-risk and vulnerable inner-city youths. During her time in Miami, Florida, Karolyne also served diligently as a member of Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. C.P. Preston, Jr. She held numerous roles serving in the choir, hospitality committee, and working with the youth department. Her most fulfillment was expressing her talents through singing and decorating.
Upon honorably retiring from the Department of Juvenile Justice and Department of Children and Family Services in 2009, Karolyne returned home to Fort Valley, Georgia to live out her golden years. Affectionately known to her friends as ‘Travel Gal’; Karolyne displayed a love of traveling both domestic and abroad visiting countries such as Scotland, Belgium, France, United Kingdom, St. Lucia, and other places worldwide. She displayed love and affection to friends, family, and strangers alike. She befriended many people from all walks of life and found joy in making everyone feel included and valued. Upon her return to Georgia, she rejoined her childhood church, Central Union Baptist Church where she served faithfully by singing in the choir, teaching vacation bible school, and continuing her missionary work.
Always cherishing her memory, she leaves behind two children: Adrian (Melody) Fleming of Fort Valley, GA and Malissa (Nathan) Jackson of Shiloh, IL; four grandchildren: Adrian Fleming, Jr and Keenon Solomon of Fort Valley, GA; Nathan Jackson, II and Nala Jackson of Shiloh, IL; sister, Kathy (Elijah) Hill of Warner Robins, GA and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
