Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Carolyn Jacob Marshall. She entered into eternal rest on December 30, 2024. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.
Carolyn Jacob Marshall, 86, of Fort Valley, GA, passed away on December 30, 2024, at Brookside Senior Living in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Carolyn was born on July 5, 1938, the only child of Lila Mae (Little) and Cleveland Jacobs, Jr.
Carolyn joined Saint Lukes Episcopal Church at the age of 5. She was an active member throughout her life. She served in many capacities including as a lay reader and a member of the Vestry.
Carolyn attended the Fort Valley Training School and graduated from H. A. Hunt High School in 1959. She went on to attend Fort Valley State College, earning a bachelor's and a master's degree.
Carolyn married Washington Marshall, Jr. on July 13, 1959. To this union three children were born. Her son, Gerald Bernard Marshall, Sr., preceded her in death on September 30, 1999.
Carolyn worked as a high school teacher for 34 years. She was a beloved French teacher and the Beta Club sponsor at Peach County High School. After 29 years of dedication at Peach County High School, she retired in 1995.
Carolyn was a proud and active member of Gamma Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Fort Valley, GA. She attended many regional and national conferences throughout the United States and enjoyed every moment of her service to Alpha Kappa Alpha. Her legacy with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc will be carried on by her daughters and granddaughter.
Remaining to cherish Carolyn’s memory are her devoted husband, Washington Marshall, Jr, Two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Talbott of Sandersville, GA, Patrice Yvette Marshall (Shannon) of Stone Mountain, GA, two granddaughters, Brittany Alexis Talbott and Nivea Marie Rodney both of Stone Mountain, GA, a grandson, Gerald Bernard Marshall, Jr, of Aston, PA, a brother in law, Willie Louis Marshall of Fort Valley, GA, Sisters in law, Carolyn D. Marshall, Doris N. Marshall, Mary Green of Fort Valley, GA, Annie L. Marshall of Byron, GA, Melvenia Marshall of Bogalusa, LA, two dedicated caregivers, Betty Barber and Willie Campbell, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends
In lieu of flowers the family would like you to make donation to St. Luke’s Church, 1000 State Univ. Dr., Fort Valley, GA.
